Marriage

This post was suppose to be done last night but due to some unforseen guild drama that needs attending to, i had no time to post this.

Last night i went for my cousin's wedding at the Marriott hotel. So he wasnt one of those cousin that i'm familiar with and probably only meet like only during Chinese New Year. This is my first wedding dinner in dunno how many years for any direct relatives. During the dinner i was so bored that i remembered some stuff about marriage that i saw during the program Get Real on CNA. Marriage is not just between 2 individuals but involved the family as well. I dont remember clearly what i was thinking last night but i thought it was so scary. As if it is so hard to remember so many relatives imagine you have to double it.

Furthermore marriage look like a scam promoted by retailers just to squeeze money out of couples. From the wedding dinner to the wedding photos etc is probably just like Valentine Day was there to make rose more expensive. So is the norms of rituals and cultures largely influenced commerically? So many public holidays came to my mind where i feel a large deal of focus is placed on buying stuff. Buying rose on Valentine Day, buying gifts on Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas all seem largely use by retailers to target consumers. No longer media stress on the time spent in families but rather gifts to show your love for your families.

I used to think that marrying at an age of 25-28 is probably the best time to ensure that there will not be a large generation gap with your children. I guess at this moment this seem so close and so far at the same time. My cousin is marrying at 32 years old and i always think that once you pass 30 it's passing your prime time. But i guess a plant will never flower if you dont even plant it.
